Frequently Asked Questions
|
How many sessions will I need? This varies for each person. Some clients come with a specific focus and achieve what they need within a small number of sessions. Others choose to engage in deeper, ongoing work that supports more meaningful and sustainable change over time. When working with trauma-informed approaches such as Internal Family Systems and Compassionate Inquiry, the pace and duration of the work is always guided by your needs, readiness and goals. We will regularly review your progress together and ensure the process continues to feel valuable and supportive for you. How often do we meet? Most clients begin with weekly or fortnightly sessions. As the work progresses, sessions often become less frequent — for example, monthly or as needed. There is no fixed structure. The timing is flexible and tailored to suit you. Where do sessions take place? Individual sessions are held in my private home office in Maylands, South Australia. I also work with clients across Australia and internationally via Zoom. Corporate coaching, workshops and team programs are delivered at your workplace or an agreed venue, or online where appropriate. How long is each session? Individual sessions are 60 minutes. This provides time for thoughtful exploration, reflection and integration, without feeling rushed. You have an option to book 90 minute or 2-hour sessions which can be beneficial in first sessions to allow time to get to know each other but that's up to you. |
What happens in a session?
Each session is guided by what feels most relevant and helpful for you on the day. Together, we may explore current challenges, patterns, goals, or experiences, using a trauma-informed, compassionate and evidence-based approach. Some sessions are reflective and exploratory, while others may include practical strategies to support integration and ongoing change. There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready. The process unfolds at a pace that feels safe and supportive. Do I need a specific problem or goal? Not at all. Some people come with a clear focus, while others simply sense that something in their life isn’t working as they would like. This work can support a wide range of areas, including personal growth, emotional wellbeing, relationships, leadership, life transitions and navigating challenges. Is this therapy? My work is trauma-informed and therapeutic in nature, however I work in a coaching capacity. This means I support growth, awareness and change, rather than diagnosing or treating mental health disorders. If at any time I believe you would benefit from additional therapeutic support, I will discuss this with you and help guide you appropriately. Is everything confidential? Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of my professional practice. What you share in sessions remains private, except where required by law. How do I get started? You are welcome to contact me to arrange an initial conversation. This provides an opportunity to discuss what you are looking for and determine whether this feels like the right fit for you.
